Correction of Crooked Legs

It is one of the surgical procedures that we have recently performed quite frequently. People who are not satisfied with their leg shape generally abstain from wearing clothes such as shorts, miniskirts, tights, and leggings. There are crooked leg deformities, which appear in a great variety of forms. Treatment options that can correct deformed areas along the entire leg are available. However, the general approach is to reduce the areas with excess tissue, while filling the areas that have inadequate tissue.

Treatment Options

Excess fat deposits accumulated in the hip area, inner and outer thighs and inner sides of the knees can be removed by liposuction. A flatter appearance can be achieved in these areas by injecting the removed fat into the inner-middle parts of the thighs and inner lower-middle parts of the knees. In cases where the inner parts of the calves are excessively thin, and where the space between the calves is greater than normal when the legs are together, calf implants can be used to thicken the calves. The thigh lift procedure can also be performed in cases where the inner and anterior sides of the thigh have excessive laxity and sagging.

Calf Implant

Calf implant placement is a procedure performed with intent to thicken the inner parts of the calf area. Special implants are placed under the muscle membranes in the posterior-inner parts of both calves through incisions made on the back sides of the knees. Although it is an easy-to-perform procedure, operations take about 45 minutes. It is one of the surgical procedures with a quite high level of satisfaction. Patients can return to their daily activities 2 to 3 days after the operation. Patients are recommended to wear high heels for 3 weeks to reduce the tension in the posterior calf.

Thigh Lift

The thigh lift procedure can be performed in cases where the inner and anterior sides of the thigh have excessive laxity and sagging that cannot be corrected with liposuction. In cases where the sagging is mild or moderate, lifting is performed only through incisions made in the inguinal region. In cases of advanced levels of sagging, lifting is performed both in the inguinal region and along the inner thigh. The biggest disadvantage of this surgical procedure is that it leaves considerable scars. Lifting operations performed only in the inguinal region leave scars that can usually be hidden by underwear.

However, lifting operations performed on the inner thigh leave scars along the inner side of the thigh. This surgical procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and takes 2 to 3 hours on average. After the operation,1-night hospital stay is needed, and daily activities can be performed within 4 to 5 days. It is recommended to dress the wound at home as described, for a period of 1 week. Patients are recommended to wear a corset for 3 to 6 weeks. Patients are recommended to avoid activities that may strain the legs for 1 month.

What Are The Deformities In The Legs?

Common leg deformities appear in the forms of excessive fat accumulation the hip area, excessive fat accumulation and sagging in the inner and anterior sides of the thighs, sunken areas in the inner-mid part of the thighs, regional excess fat deposits in the inner sides of the knees, sunken appearance in the lower-inner parts of the knees, thin inner parts of the thighs, and inability to hold the knees and calves completely together when the legs are together.
