Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Breast Lift

'Breasts that look plump and upright are the dream of every woman'.
Dr. Caner Kaçmaz

When the breasts start developing, they look quite tight and upright. However, the breasts lose their tightness and begin to loosen and sag over time due to the effect of gravity, aging, weight gain and loss, breastfeeding, and not using appropriate bra regularly. A loss of volume in the breasts is usually accompanied by sagging of the breasts.

In cases where the patient has mild sagging of the breasts, the condition can be camouflaged using supported bras, but as the sagging increases, it starts causing unhappiness and loss of self-confidence. The degree of sagging in the breasts is identified by making certain measurements before the breast lift operation, and then the operation is planned accordingly, and the patient is provided with an upright, plump and tight breast form.

Can The Breast Volume Be Increased In The Same Breast Lift Operation?

It is necessary for the breasts to look tight and upright, as well as to have adequate volume. If the complaints of loosening and sagging in the breasts are accompanied by loss of volume in the breasts, the breast volume is increased with a silicone implant in the same operation.

How Long After Breastfeeding Period Can a Breast Lift Operation Be Performed?

The breast lift procedure can be performed at least 1 year after delivery and 6-9 months after the end of breastfeeding period.

Can The Size of The Areola Be Reduced In The Same Breast Lift Operation?

As the degree of sagging in the breast increases, the areola expands in proportion to it as well. In such cases, while your breasts are reshaped, the diameters of your areolas are reduced accordingly.

What Techniques Do You Use in Breast Lift Operations?

Basically, there are 3 types of breast lift techniques. We perform ‘circumareolar breast lift’ for our patients with slight sagging in their areolas; breast lift with the 'vertical scar' technique, which leaves a scar in the form of a straight line extending down from the nipple, for our patients with slightly more sagging breasts; and breast lift with the 'short inverted-T technique’ for our patients who have severe sagging in their breasts.

Operation

The breast lift procedure is performed under general anesthesia. The procedure takes about 2 to 3 hours. After the operation, 1-night hospital stay is required. Patients can return to their daily activities after 3 to 4 days on average. It is recommended to wear a special bra for 1 month. It is recommended to avoid all strenuous activities, lifting heavy things, stretching their arms up over the head, and lying face down for a period of 1 month.

Does a Breast Lift Operation Leave a Scar?

Scars are more obvious in the early postoperative period of breast lift. At the end of the first postoperative year, scars decrease to the desired level.

Will My Breasts Sag Again After The Breast Lift Operation?

After the breast lift operation, you will maintain the shape of your breasts for many years, as long as you wear appropriate bras regularly, and avoid conditions such as weight gain or breastfeeding.

Does The Breast Lift Procedure Pose Any Obstacle to Breastfeeding?

When performed using the right technique by an experienced surgeon, breast lift does not pose any obstacle to breastfeeding.
